An Act Granting a Donation of Land to Actual Settlers on or Near the Military Road on the Northern Frontier
5th Congress, Regular Session, 1840–1841
This act extended the bounty land grant system specifically to settlers on or near the military road on the northern frontier — a direct expression of the soldier-settler fusion examined throughout this exhibition. The 5th Congress of the Republic met in regular session November–February 1840–1841, under President Lamar.
